QUALITY CONTROL AND SPECIFICATIONS
Woodline has a total commitment to quality, which is manifested in its SABS ISO9001: 2000 certification. This total quality management system ensures that the following quality objectives are achieved:

  • Ensuring that a contract is carried out within the predetermined time-scales;
  • Contributing to the profit objectives of the company by optimising the direct costs of quality assurance against the cost of potential losses, defects and wastage;

  • Improving managerial and technical skills, and instilling the need for self-discipline and attention to detail in all personnel;
  • Quality objectives set periodically in all cruciall areas of operations and production;

Woodline operates its treatment plants in accordance with SABS 05 (Preservative Treatment of Timber,) and has permits to apply the SABS mark to its products manufactured in Accordance with:

  • SABS 457 – Wooden poles, droppers, laths, guard rail posts and spacer blocks
  • SABS 753 – Pine poles, cross-arms and spacers for power distribution, Telephone systems and street lighting
  • SABS 1288 – Treated timber

Poles are also processed and treated in accordance with the following client’s specifications

  • ESKOM – Distribution Standard – SCSSCAAD7 Rev 8 - Specification for Wood Poles Cross-arms and Spacer Blocks
  • TELKOM SA – Wooden Pole Specification SP2204
  • BOTSWANA TELECOMMUNICATIONS CORPORATION - Material Specifications LN/MTS/CC6100
  • BOTSWANA POWER CORPORATION – Standard Requirement for BPC Distribution Systems – Section 2/POLEWOOD REV 2

For the export market, Woodline manufactures poles in accordance with any client's specifications, which includes the following international specifications:

  • BS 1990 - British Standard - Wood poles for overhead power and telecommunication lines
  • ANSI 05.1 – American National Standard – Specifications and dimensions for wood poles
  • NF C 67-100 – French Standard – Supports for overhead lines Wood poles specifications ( Supports Pour Lignes Aëriennes Poteaux en bois Spécifications)

During all phases of production, Woodline’s poles are selected, graded and inspected to ensure that all our products conform to the relevant specifications and customer requirements on a continuous basis, ensuring consistent quality of products.
